Brilliant Recording 2011 Highlights

Welcome to the new brilliantrecording.com! This will be a place where I will be posting updates on current projects and anything else that’s really rad.

Well, 2011 has been a blur!  A year of stepping out and completely trusting God, needless to say, but He has been exceedingly faithful and has given me some great opportunities to work with some really talented people!   Here are a few of the highlights from the year.

HIGHLIGHTS

Producer/Engineer | Cody Carnes | Singles

I had the great pleasure of working with Cody on a group of singles that he released this past year.  Not only is Cody a great friend, but a stupid talented song writer, musician and worship leader!  It was pretty great watching “All He Says I Am” climb to #2 on the Christian iTunes Chart!

Producer, Tracking/Mix Engineer, Musician | Zach Neese | “God and King”

This was the most fun I have had working on a project in a long time.  What can be better then making music with your best friends?  What topped it off was that Zach had a bunch of killer songs and a wide variety of styles.  This one was a blast!

Producer, Tracking/Mix Engineer | Valley Creek Worship | “Only God”

It was an honor to be a part of the very first live worship album from Valley Creek Worship!  I was involved from start to finish, and I have to say that I enjoyed every minute of it.  These are some good people, and their album really reflects their hearts.  If the first one turned out this good, I can’t wait to see what the next one holds.

Engineer | Kari Jobe | “Where I Find You”

I got to fill in on the local engineering duties that needed to take place when she wasn’t in Nashville woking with the venerable Ed Cash.  What can I say – she’s always a blast to work with!

Producer, Tracking/Mix Engineer, Musician | Hello Somebody | Volume 1

This was a compilation that released earlier this year.  Not only were there some amazing artists on it (The Rocket Summer, Kari Jobe, Group One Crew, The Almost, Dara Joy Maclean, Matt Shelton, Cody Carnes, Stars Go Dim), but each album sold went on to provide a meal for 100 underprivileged children.

Producer, Tracking/Mix Engineer | Matt Shelton | “Let Your Hands Be Strong”

Matt is probably most known for being the frontman for hard rock bands The Wedding and Letter Kills, but it is little known that he has a whole other side to his musical creativity!  We had been exploring that other side on the Hello Somebody project, and then he got asked to contribute to a compilation that Indie Vision Music was releasing.  This other side of Matt rocks just as hard as his other stuff, but with more of an organic feel!

Producer, Tracking/Mix Engineer, Musician | Gateway Worship | In Jesus Name Devotional | “My Soul Will Sing”

Gateway Church just released their annual devotional.  I was asked to produce one of the songs that was written by Sion Alford, Glenn Packiam and Cody Carnes.  I’m really happy with how it turned out, and I have to say that it is probably one of the best vocal sounds I have gotten yet!

Writer, Producer, Tracking/Mix Engineer, Musician | Blessed Life TV Show

I was asked to compose the new theme music for the Blessed Life TV Show.  It was pretty fun, and I think it’s out of the box from what you would normally hear on a Christian TV station.

I’m going to cut this blog short since it is already way to long, even though there are many other sessions and projects that I got play a part in.  A great big thanks to everybody who worked with me in 2011, and to those who are already on the books for 2012, I know that next year is going to be even better!
